TAKE A TOUR OF THE NEW AVIARY As you know, the mission of Garuda Aviary is to provide lifelong sanctuary to companion parrots that have been abused, neglected, or have suffered the emotional trauma of the home-to-home merry-go-round. Parrots are intelligent and emotionally sensitive animals that need the safety of the flock, plenty of light, space to move and play and flap their wings, and tender, loving care from their human flock. Without these things, parrots suffer depression, self-destructive behavior such as feather picking, and death from failure to thrive. To provide this environment in which the birds can thrive and be happy, we have built a new aviary that doubles the space we were able to give them in Arizona. This will also allow us to provide sanctuary to more birds in need. This is our commitment, and we invite you to join with us helping to relieve a bit of the suffering in the world - in this case, the world of parrots. We have more to do with the need for an outdoor flight cage,
The new aviary enables us to provide a loving home for our birds, one full of light, play space, plenty of room to move. The new quarters are awesome: a 1500+ square foot, custom-designed building. It includes different areas for different types of birds, as the dander of the cockatoos is bad for the respiratory systems of the non-dander birds such as the macaws. It also includes an isolation area to quarantine sick or new birds. It even includes a workshop for making bird toys! Photo tour:
